Scott has enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking since college in the 1980s. He majored in both economics and finance, but instead of heading to Wall Street, he was inspired by a gift he was given - a Brinkmann Smoker. It all began in historic Sugartown when he started using his charcoal-powered smoker to smoke some food that he caught, like trout, ducks, geese, and pheasants. He smoked what he hunted and started sharing it with friends and family as gifts.
After a tragedy, he spent a whole year researching and growing his business. Over the decades, his path has led to winning awards and even an appearance on Good Morning America. He showcased Sugartown’s Tasmanian Trout, which was voted the most outstanding seafood product in the country by Gallo Family Gold Medal Awards. Since the early days, he’s expanded the product lines from just game birds. Sugartown closely follows USDA and FDA standards for all their products, from seafood to smoked cheeses. Scott even does co-packing for other brands and brand-building production work for them.
