The Recipe: Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese

This recipe by CEO Jay Simpson is ideal for football fans looking for a quick and satisfying dish that can be prepped in advance and enjoyed during the game. Using pre-cooked pulled pork and Sugartown's Smoked Cheddar, you’ll have a crowd-pleasing meal ready in under an hour.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pre-cooked pulled pork (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni (or your favorite pasta)
  • 2 cups Sugartown Smoked Specialties cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk or 2% is best)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Additions:

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce (optional, to drizzle on top)
Note: Need to make Gluten-free? Simply swap in gluten-free pasta and flour.

    Instructions:

    1. Cook the pasta: Start by boiling the elbow macaroni in salted water according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
    2. Make the cheese sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking for about 1-2 minutes.
    3. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth, stirring constantly until it thickens (about 3-4 minutes).
    4. Add in the shredded Sugartown Smoked Cheddar and cream cheese (if using). Stir until everything is melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper. Top with a drizzle of your favorite BBQ sauce.
